Muhammad Ikram Awaits Cardiac Surgery
Meet Muhammad Ikram, a 10-year-old brave boy from Bhakkar, who has been suffering from breathlessness, palpitations, and chest discomfort since birth. His parents consulted a doctor because they were concerned about his health. After a thorough examination, he was diagnosed with severe Mitral Stenosis (MS). It is a progressive heart condition that causes narrowing of the mitral valve, increasing pressure on the heart and lungs. The condition also has a psychological impact on him, affecting his emotional health and well-being.
His cardiologist has advised Mitral Valve Replacement surgery. According to the doctor, Ikram won’t be able to live a long and healthy life if he doesn’t get this treatment. Ikram often stays quiet and avoids playing with other kids. Even a minor exertion gives him extreme fatigue and breathlessness. Ikram is undergoing delayed development milestones, impacting his mental and physical health. His chronic condition has made him isolated and frustrated.
Ikram’s family lives under the strain of financial hardships, which makes their situation even worse and challenging. He lives in a two-room mud house with his five family members. Despite working for long hours as a laborer, his father only makes PKR 19000 per month. He is the sole breadwinner and his entire family relies upon him for living expenses. With their insufficient monthly income, affording the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for them.
In this time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Ikram’s parents said with tears in their eyes:
“Every day is a battle for Ikram. We feel disappointed because we can’t pay for his much-needed surgery. We want to give him a healthy and long life. Your support can save our son’s life.”
Transparent Hands has registered his case and is committed to helping Ikram. By undergoing the surgery, he will be able to live a long and healthy life.
