Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is extremely important in Islam. During Ramadan, Muslims fast, pray, reflect, and give alms generously. Many Muslims make their annual donations during Ramadan.
Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam. Allah (SWT) revealed the Quran during Ramadan and blessed it with Laylatul qadr—a night greater in reward and blessings than 1000 months. Donate Zakat in Ramadan and earn a multitude of rewards.
Ramadan is expected to start on the evening of Friday, 28 February 2025, and end on Saturday, 30th March 2025. The dates depend on the lunar sighting. Stay updated with Ramadan 2025 news and set your Ramadan timetable for 2025, accordingly.
The last ten days of Ramadan promise abundant virtues and blessings of Allah (SWT); thus, they hold a special place in Islam. Your Zakat donations will earn you abundant rewards and blessings. You can donate your Zakat to Transparent Hands, one of the best donation platforms.
Ramadan lasts 29 to 30 days, depending on moonsighting.
The following hadith related to Ramadan speaks of its importance: The Prophet (PBUH) was asked which fast was most virtuous after Ramadan? He said: “Sha’ban in honor of Ramadan” He said: “Which charity is best?” He (PBUH) said: “Charity in Ramadan.”
It is recommended that the following dua should be recited before breaking the fast in Ramadan: “Dhahaba al-zama wa’btalat al-‘uruq wa thabata al-ajr in sha Allah” [Abu Dawud: 2357]
The duration of Ramadan is determined by sighting the moon.
Sadaqa is alms given to the poor voluntarily to please Allah (SWT). Sadaqat aren’t always monetary in nature and may include acts of generosity, love, and compassion.
Zakat by definition is a mandatory donation that all Muslims must pay if they have the minimum amount of wealth defined by nisab. They must give 2.5% of their wealth to charity annually.
Fidya donation is a form of compensation paid by a person who can’t fast in Ramadan for valid reasons. It may include food and its monetary equivalent. You can donate Fidya through Transparent Hands.
Zakat ul Fitr is obligatory almsgiving that every Muslim must pay at the end of Ramadan and before the commencement of Eid ul Fitr prayers.
Every Muslim with possessions worth 52.5 tolas of silver must pay Zakat ul fitr. You can pay your Zakat ul Fitr to Transparent Hands, one of the best charity donation platforms.
Ideally, Zakatul Fitr should be paid just before Eid ul Fitr prayers begin. However, it can also be paid in advance.
Zakat ul Fitr allows the needy to celebrate the Eid ul Fitr. It has several virtues. According to a Hadith reported by Ibn Abbas, “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) enjoined Zakatul-fitr as a purification for the fasting person from idle talk and obscenities and to feed the poor”. (Sunan Ibn Majah, 1827)
Zakat ul Fitr can be given to anyone eligible to receive Zakat who doesn’t meet the Nisab threshold, which includes any possessions equivalent to 52.5 tolas of silver. Additionally, the recipients of Zakat must not have any material possessions that are extravagant or excessive for their basic needs.
