Zakat is a compulsory Islamic giving that removes all impurities from one’s wealth and spirit. Giving Zakat is proof of inexplicit love and devotion towards Allah. When a Muslim gives Zakat regularly he will become prosperous, because the Almighty will raise his status and dignity both in this world and the Akhirat.

Allah has promised to shower upon His mercy and kindness to those who have shown mercy and kindness to the poor and needy. Allah has also promised, to relieve the difficulties and hardships of those who have alleviated the sufferings of the needy and have relieved the grieving souls.

How can we expect to get the blessings of Allah the Almighty when we are neglecting the lamentations and cry of countless starving, poor, hungry and destitute Muslims and non-Muslims all over the world?

All rich and wealthy Muslims must realize how their wealth could alleviate social diseases and can strengthen their communities. Giving Zakat is crucial because it can ensure the well-being of the needy as well as can help the wealthy to attain ultimate happiness and peace of mind.

We should not act miserly when giving Zakat or worry about the reduction of our hard earned wealth. No one in this world has ever become poor by giving. But think how the compassionate giving and kind gesture can heal the wounds of the millions out there who are suffering in hunger, sickness or in isolation.

Let us make our living purposeful and spare some precious moments from our life to live it for others. Let us give Zakat and inspire others to give theirs as well.

Poverty is obviously a deep problem in our society as it compels humanity to suffer severely for the crimes that they didn’t commit. It is really unfortunate to see people in low-income families unable to afford to pay for the very basics of life including housing, food, energy, health and education.

Poverty has become relentless in Australian life, as three million people living below the poverty line, including 739,000 innocent children, according to the reports published by the Australian Council of Social Service.

Australia has witnessed a vast economic growth over the past 27 years, yet a significant part of this wealthy population is living in low-income families, and finding it really hard to cope with the high expenses to provide for themselves and their families.

The poverty rate in Australia is much higher, because here the government has no effective poverty reduction plan neither do they have a monitoring system to measure the progress made to alleviate poverty.

We cannot wait for the government or other institutions, to take the charges to rebuild the economic system while millions are suffering and living in inhumane conditions.

Giving Zakat can distribute the wealth equally within the society, so that the poor can get money to fulfill their basic necessities. Zakat can also be given to poor patients to help them to pay for their diagnosis, treatment and medicines.

Zakat money can also be given to unemployed individuals, as business capitals to help them start their small ventures and overcome their own financial hardships. Later on, small business entrepreneurs can create new jobs and solve the unemployment issues for individuals living in poverty . This can alleviate poverty permanently in our society.

Zakat is an incredible way to bring justice, balance and kindness within our society and community. The power of alleviating poverty has been vested in the hands of the rich and wealthy Muslims, who can bring immense good to our society by giving Zakat correctly and sincerely.
